Week 7B: Engaging Your Customers

I think these posts will engage my audience because they're each different.

The meaning behind a flower is particularly interesting and appeals to a wider range audience.
The succulent pumpkins appeals to anyone looking for a different approach to fall decor and the picture really stood out to me.
I decided to try a poll because I think it would be a unique way to get customer feedback. Instead of wasting my time by offering tutorials on both, why not get direct responses from my customers to see which they'd rather prefer?

Week 2A: Overview of Social Media

I want to preface this blog post by saying that I only use, at most, four social media platforms. They include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and occasionally LinkedIn. Therefore, my responses below will focus on my experiences with these specific social media sites. The social media platforms geared toward personal use seem to be Instagram and Facebook. Instagram allows its users to post an infinite number of pictures that can be shared with friends and therefore liked by people. Week 3A: Communication Between Business & Customer

The whole point of Chapter 1 in Likeable Social Media was the fact that listening plays a HUGE role in how effective social media can be for businesses and brands. The book brought up some interesting points that seem so obvious yet are forgotten so easily. Personally, I cant recall a specific instance where I've had extreme difficulty communicating with a particular business. At least, not to the point where I've felt that I've ever needed to vent on social media. More times that not, I can resolve whatever issue I'm having over the phone, but after reading how social media can help, it's definitely something I'll keep in mind moving forward. Speaking from personal experience, I've never used social media to get an issue resolved. I think making a public statement about a problem or concern with a particular brand or product will get you noticed, but I think it's up the to company and how well they are "listening" as to whether or not the

Week1A: My Template Choice

Hello Friends, First, I'd like to start by saying welcome to my new blog! I've never had a blog to share my ideas or thoughts but I look forward to learning more about how blogging works and its benefits! I suppose I should start with how I came to choose my title. My last name, McMackin, has always been a little different and most people remember it because it's unusual and also sounds kind of funny. I wanted to keep it simple and since this is a social media course, I figured "McMackin Media" would work. Also, I'm a big fan of alliteration! When it came to choosing a template, I wanted something simple but inviting. I think color scheme and text have a lot to do with that. For example, I chose a contemporary layout that included images of birds of paradise and had, what I think to be, warm colors.
